About

Las Vegas heat, weather and what to expect, from the source.

Who makes this

Temperature.Vegas is made in Las Vegas by the temperature.vegas team, part of a small network of independent Las Vegas sites. Temperature.Vegas is an independent, unofficial guide made by the temperature.vegas team. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Weather Service, NOAA, the Southern Nevada Health District, or Clark County.

We built it because most "Las Vegas weather" pages either bury the numbers under ads or round them so hard they stop being useful. If you are planning a trip, a race, a pool day or a move, you want to know what a normal July afternoon looks like, how often it actually hits 100°F, and how cold a December night really gets. That is what this site is for.

Where the numbers come from

Every normal on the site (highs, lows, hot days, freezing nights, rainfall, hour-by-hour temperatures) comes from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, using the 1991–2020 U.S. Climate Normals for the weather station at Harry Reid International Airport (station USW00023169). Records come from the National Weather Service Las Vegas office, which keeps the airport’s history back to January 1, 1937. The “right now” panel on the home page reads the latest airport observation and forecast straight from the National Weather Service API each time you load it.

The airport is one spot in a big valley. The NWS points out that it often runs warmer at night than the edges of the valley, and higher areas like Summerlin or Red Rock can be noticeably cooler. Treat our numbers as a guide for the central valley and the Strip, not for every backyard.

How we check facts

Every page lists its sources and the date we last checked them. Weather news items link to the NWS or NOAA product they are based on. When we can’t confirm something, we leave it out instead of guessing. We don’t invent statistics, and we don’t publish rumors or copy other people’s posts.
